About Roughstock Studios

Howdy! Roughstock is an independent communications studio offering writing, design and consulting services. Want it simpler still? We make meaning from words and pictures.

We work with all kinds of organizations and on all manner of projects. Whether you’re fantasizing about a whole new identity (and who isn’t?), in desperate need of the right words, or just looking for solid advice, Roughstock can help. We’ve done all of that and then some: our work has increased sales, built customer relationships and taught thousands of employees about all kinds of things.

The studio is the brainchild of Jess Sand, former marketing director, poet, bookkeeper, honky tonk DJ, bartender, teacher, line and prep cook, office manager and wrangler of chaos, in no particular order. Jess handles pretty much everything, and brings in others to handle the things she can’t (she’s smart that way). Jess' particular areas of expertise include sustainability issues, hospitality standards, small business management and adult beverages (seriously).

Let us know what you need, and we'll help make it happen.
