I create authentic messages for interesting people.

My work is built on years of design, writing, business management, and marketing experience. I've also served stints as a bookkeeper, poet, honky tonk DJ, and bartender. All of this directly informs my work in one way or another (yep, all of it).

Born and raised on the East Coast, I've been living and writing in San Francisco for nearly 15 years. After spending six years on my solo communications practice, Roughstock Studios, I returned to in-house work for the San Francisco nonprofit Net Impact, where I now serve as Communications Manager.

I helped build the first independent online toolkit for sustainable graphic design (Re-nourish), my design work has appeared in numerous books and publications, and I've written for HOW Design magazine, the Stanford Social Innovation Review, and other respected online and print outlets.

Occasionally unorthodox but always responsive, I try to challenge boring thinking and seek out the less obvious in everything I do. I'm always open to new writing assignments and other projects, particularly those with a subversive bent, so don't hesitate to drop me a message.
